Trying to keep warm Sabi-style
Well I got rained out today. It's really cold for June. I'll get lots of work done today but I am starved for a change. I'll make a wishlist. Feel free to add suggestions.
I'd like to buy some journals and just go crazy sketching and writing. I've always wanted to create a cool little book of art and short stories.I just bought some postcard-sized watercolor paper but I'm used to working with extra large - I'd like to bring my easel onto the side porch and so some splatter art.
Just dreaming here - but I'd like to collect just 4 items in the house, and literally toss everything else in boxes to donate. Clear out the house and start over again. I am so sick of this old decor. Treehugger has some great bamboo products featured here, if you want to browse.
Well, back to work. I also want to start a group or 2 on Vox. Tell me what you guys think:
Raving Critter Fanatics: an animal welfare group that would be really radical and the opposite of PETA in its approach but almost identical in its standards.
Vegan crazy: not set on the name yet, but I'm sick of vegetarian recipes that I can't eat because they have wheat in them. The group would be for vegetarians/vegans with allergies.

Make sure you give us a review if you ever do that - I'd be curious to know if it's as good as its reputation. We saw some bamboo cutting boards that we want.
2 weeks - you are hardcore. I usually squirrel it away for a year. But only clothing and paintings - everything else is disposeable. I'm hoping to go seriously minimal so I can travel more like you guys.
Summer Solstice will be very wet. I have spring fever big time.
Thank you!! I'm glad you can appreciate my vision. It's nice to have an idea and have someone else's opinion, otherwise I usually think "well that's a dumb idea, Ellie..." LOL
What the heck kind of weather is this anyway....I feel cheated. Shessh I'm still wearing my winter pajamas!
Thanks - and yes Happy rainy, wet cold Solstice. I can't even put my fleece into storage yet. Horray!! :P
LOL I'm not complaining, it's actually really sweet to hear the rain patter on the rooftop with the cardinals loudly cheering outside my window.
Thank you, KermieLadie! ;)
Ahaaa yes that was funny and so typical of PETA - they will pounce on any opportunity for attention. When I tell people that PETA drives me nuts, people say, "oh yes can you believe they want us to care about a fly"?
I tell people, in fact yes I think having compassion for flies is a wonderful thing. I was taught by my favorite Buddhist teacher that monks sweep away flies rather than killing them. It's just PETA's mean spiritied and sexist, screechy campaigns that I don't agree with.
What did you think of it?
Hi Ellie
I think you should just go crazy sketching and writing, and a new site or two in the betterment of our environment, our heath and our animal friends is always welcome.
The more good sites the better, there will never be too many.
Ellie you are doing a wonderful job, I am very impressed and proud of you too.
Love your site.
Love
Holly
I appreciate the support, Holly. I will need your input if I do!
How's the pond?
How cool about the swift - that must be a really good omen of sorts!
Hi Ellie,
The pond is healthy and doing very well. Its fed by an underground spring. No on the ground streams lead to it.
Everything so is luch and green with all the rain we have had this spring.
We live so close to the river we see the water birds visiting the pond.
You keep up your good work Ellie, you make this world a better place.
Thanks for your great kindness to me and our earth.
Love you,
Holly

I have to bring this to your attention,

Gulls' vicious attacks on whalesbtw, PETA will find ways to exploit, sorry have to use such word, to express their messages for their love for animals. Poor humans.
